The distinction lies in the potential for skill development, creative expression, and problem-solving that gaming can offer, akin to more traditionally recognized hobbies. This is what would differentiate it from productive, fulfilling hobbies like knitting, fishing, or painting, as opposed to recreational activities like drinking or watching TV. If 'gamers' as a community want to make a stronger case for the legitimacy of their hobby, then a case must be made for its benefits beyond mere enjoyment. I simply cannot agree with anyone who cheats just to get achievements I don't think that's a healthy behavior. I think the blame lies more with developers who ignore the inevitable existence of cheats when designing their games and achievements, rather than with players who want to play the game their way and have no choice but to get achievements along the way. Just gotta make sure you know which pools to look in and maximise getting as many items spawns. Ive found T.Isaac and T.Eden pretty good for finding those last few items. They should also more strictly control how players can 'achieve' in the public arena of each individual game. You can just reset as t.isaac on greed mode until you get d20, and just try finding spindown dice to get the death certificate. I've had this conversation offline since this post, and my position aligns more with the idea that developers should provide more in-game cheats/tools/options to allow a more customized experience. Mastering the art of that default shot becomes so satisfying as you get better at 'bending the bullet', just like they did in that one movie. I totally understand where you're coming from with the 'Analog Stick' mod, but at the same time, I can't help but encourage you to try again without that mod someday.
